Some homes are worth rebuilding from the inside. A center-hall colonial in Hyde Park. A stone tudor in Indian Hill. A bungalow in Mariemont with good bones and a layout that stopped working a generation ago. An estate in Long Cove, Mason, where the views deserve a floor plan built around them.
A whole-home remodel isn’t a kitchen and a bath at the same time. It’s rethinking how the entire house works — circulation, light, proportion, systems, storage — and bringing every room up to the same standard. When we do it, we do it with the same care we bring to new construction.
We’ve been remodeling homes across Greater Cincinnati since 1940. We understand how houses of every era were built, what’s worth preserving, and what’s worth replacing. You’ll get the performance of a new home and the character of an old one.
We remodel homes all over Greater Cincinnati. Most of our work is in Hyde Park, Indian Hill, Mariemont, Wyoming, Terrace Park, Madeira, Mason, Anderson Township, and Oakley. Every neighborhood has its own kind of house — older colonials and Tudors in Hyde Park, estates in Indian Hill, historic homes in Mariemont and Wyoming, ranches and split-levels in Madeira, newer custom homes in Mason.
We’ve been at this since 1940, so we know what each one needs. If you’re somewhere else in Greater Cincinnati or Northern Kentucky, give us a call — we probably work there too.
Every whole-home remodel is different. Most include some version of this.
Rethinking how rooms connect — opening up dark centers, adding light where it matters, fixing awkward circulation that's been bothering you for years.
The two rooms that set the tone for the whole house. Custom cabinetry, stone selection, plumbing you'll actually enjoy using.
Period-appropriate where it matters, updated where it helps. Trim profiles matched or thoughtfully replaced so the house still feels like itself.
HVAC, electrical, plumbing brought to current standards. Older homes often need new service — we plan the rough-in so walls and ceilings go back together cleanly.
Insulation, air sealing, and window upgrades that make an old home quieter, warmer in winter, cooler in summer, and cheaper to run.
For homes in Mariemont, Wyoming, or similarly reviewed neighborhoods — we manage exterior approvals and design changes that read as belonging.
A meaningful whole-home renovation in Greater Cincinnati typically runs between $350,000 and well above $1 million, depending on home size, scope, finish level, and condition of existing systems. We’ll give you a defensible budget early — before design is locked in — so you can decide what’s worth doing.
Expect 4 to 10 months of construction, preceded by 2 to 4 months of design and selections. Historic homes and projects that uncover structural surprises sit at the longer end.
For smaller scopes, often yes. For anything touching kitchens, primary baths, or major systems simultaneously, most clients move out for part of the build. We’ll plan the project either way.
Yes. We’ve worked through historic review in Mariemont, Wyoming, and Hyde Park many times. We know what preservation staff expects and how to make modern life work inside a historically reviewed envelope.
For anything involving structural changes, historic review, or significant reconfiguration — yes. We partner with architects regularly and can introduce you to one whose style fits the home.
My husband and I built our custom home with Dennis Ott Builders 13 years ago and just recently used their services again to finish our basement. We had another wonderful experience with Jason Ott, Dave Holscher and their team. Every idea and dream of ours put into reality to create a one of a kind space for our family. You're in great hands with Dennis Ott Builders, every step of the way.
Building with Jason Ott was such a wonderful experience from beginning to end. He and his team listened to our needs and step by step designed and built our amazing beautiful forever home. I have such a unique custom home that no one else has because Jason takes the time to listen to your needs and then has the vision to see it through.
Great team and we really enjoyed working with everyone at Dennis Ott Builders. The level of management and pre-planning on every phase of our new home was exceptional.
