Designing the Kitchen

When we remodel your kitchen, we listen to what you're envisioning.

  • Stone and surface selection

We go to the slab yard with you. Veining matters, and photos don't tell the truth. Quartzite for a kitchen that gets cooked in. Marble where you want softness and patina. Soapstone for a warmer, quieter room. Engineered stone where the budget or the use case points there. We'll tell you honestly what each one will look and live like in year one and year ten.

  • Appliance planning

Built-in refrigeration, panel-ready dishwashers, pro-grade ranges, steam ovens, under-counter wine storage. We coordinate with your dealer early so rough-in depths, venting paths, and clearances are correct the first time. A kitchen with an appliance that doesn't quite fit is a kitchen that looks handled — but isn't.

  • Lighting layers

Task, accent, and ambient — all planned before drywall, wired to scenes, and controlled with dimmers where they matter. The difference between a kitchen that looks great at ten in the morning and one that looks great at nine at night. We also plan the underside of every upper cabinet and the interior of every glass-front piece.

  • Millwork, trim, and detail

Paneled end gables, applied moldings, furniture-style islands, hand-planed hoods, crown that meets the ceiling correctly, a backsplash that lines up with the range hood rather than fighting it. The room reads as architecture instead of a run of casework.

  • Integration with the rest of the home

Your kitchen doesn't live alone. Flooring transitions, trim profiles, ceiling details, and sightlines to adjoining rooms are planned together so the old house and the new kitchen feel like one house. Most of our kitchen remodels are one piece of a larger design conversation — and we'd rather flag that early than paper over it later.

Kitchen Remodeling FAQ

How much does a custom kitchen remodel cost in Cincinnati?

A true custom kitchen in Greater Cincinnati — Amish-built cabinetry, stone countertops, built-in appliances, new electrical and lighting — typically starts around $125,000 and moves up from there based on size, finish level, and scope of structural work. We’ll give you a realistic range at the first meeting.

How long does a kitchen remodel take?

From demolition to the first real meal, 10 to 14 weeks is typical. Cabinetry lead time — often 10 to 14 weeks from order — means the build usually starts 3 to 4 months after you sign. We’ll give you a schedule at the front and we hold to it.

Can we use our kitchen during the remodel?

Not during demo, rough-in, or cabinetry install — a period of roughly 6 to 10 weeks. We help you set up a temporary kitchen in the dining room, garage, or another part of the home, and we plan the sequence to minimize disruption.

Do you build custom cabinetry or use stock?

Custom, almost always. Most of our cabinetry is Amish-built in Ohio to precise specifications — fitted to your room, your appliances, and the way you actually store and use what’s in there. Stock cabinets force compromises we’d rather not make for the kind of room a kitchen is.

Do you work with my designer or architect?

Yes — many of our kitchen clients come to us with a designer already on the project, and we collaborate closely from day one. If you don’t have one and want one, we have in-house design capability and longstanding relationships with several Cincinnati designers whose work we trust.
